TIGERLAND RESORT

Your holiday at Tigerland Resort can cost as little as £65 per person per night, inclusive of accommodation on a full-board basis and two game drives into the forests of Kanha per day. You can expect to see Sambar deer, Chital (spotted deer), gaur, langur monkey, wild peacock, wild pig, Indian wild dog, tiger, and possibly leopard or sloth bear. Book your own flight to Delhi, where you will be met on arrival and taken to the railway station and seen on the overnight train to central India for Kanha, (there is a small charge for this). There are various alternatives, for example you may wish to stay overnight in Delhi, in which case hotel or guesthouse accommodation can be arranged for you. I recommend a ten day trip, and if you can afford to pay a little extra, split the time between Bandhavgargh and Kanha Tiger Reserves. Bandhavgargh is arguably on a par with Kanha in respect of tiger sightings, indeed as it is considerably smaller it's possibly easier to find them, so five days in each reserve is to be recommended. If you wish to take this option the accommodation in Bandhavgargh and the transfer can be arranged at the time of booking. Accommodation at Bandhavgargh is more expensive and not subject to discount.

NOW IS THE TIME TO VISIT INDIA TO SEE TIGERS IN THE WILD! THEIR NUMBERS ARE CONTINUING TO BE DECIMATED BY POACHING IN MANY OF THE RESERVES (SARISKAR HAS RECENTLY BEEN OFFICIALLY DECLARED DEVOID OF TIGERS). MAJOR TOUR COMPANIES ARE GETTING WISE TO KANHA & BANDHAVGARGH - NEW RESORTS ARE UNDER CONSTRUCTION SURROUNDING THE RESERVE, THE ACCESS ROAD HAS RECENTLY BEEN IMPROVED HALVING JOURNEY TIMES, A "TOURIST TAX" HAS BEEN INTRODUCED BY THE INDIAN GOVERMENT, AND THE NUMBER OF TOURISTS IN THE RESERVES IS INCREASING YEAR ON YEAR. IT'S ALMOST INEVITABLE THAT PRICES WILL INCREASE DRAMATICALLY IF OTHER RESERVES FURTHER DECLINE, AND THE NUMBER OF VISITORS TO KANHA & BANDHAVGARGH INCREASES PROPORTIONATELY. DON'T DELAY ON THIS, IT MAY BE TOO LATE IF YOU "LEAVE IT". YOU MIGHT PAY $200 P.P PER NIGHT TO STAY AT A LODGE IN THE MASAI MARA AND GAME PARK FEES IN KENYA ARE ABOUT TO BE INCREASED TO £48 P.P. PER DAY IN LINE WITH TANZANIA, - SO INDIA REPRESENTS EXCEPTIONAL VALUE - BUT FOR HOW LONG?
